Five For Friday

It's been quite some time since I've linked up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for a Five For Friday post! Forgot how much fun it is! Without further ado, here's a look into my Friday...

As I mentioned yesterday, Earth Day is legit my favorite holiday to teach. I was SUPER pumped to sit on the floor with my kiddos and read them my favorite book today. We did some comp activities in reading groups, and made this fun little guy, which is always one of my favorite craftivities... It's a TPT freebie, too!

We absolutely love our class guinea pig, Clementine. She's great with the kids, but I always struggled to find a way for her to be out more often. I found this rabbit litter pan at Tractor Supply, and the play pen fit perfectly inside it. I leave her in here during the day and the kids know that while they're working, they can pet her as long as she's out. We know when she's in her igloo, she doesn't want to be pet. They're super good about it and love having her out.

My kids came up with this awesome word work idea all on their own, and I LOVE watching them race to see how many words they can build before we have to change rounds. Just your standard pyramid spelling where each new row has 1 more letter than the last. It cracks me up to see them get SO excited to find big words! (I totally don't mind them cheating a little bit, either, when they get to 15 letters or more!) They were building "HOW I BECAME A PIRATE" as their 17 letter word LOL

I created these math morning work pages a few years ago, and still use them every day! They are such a life saver for my morning routine. I've got them printed out, and ready to go when the kids walk in every morning, and they get straight to work. I've got them available by month, as well as a bundle for the year.

This kid's desk is right beside my table and I've been staring at it all week... my anxiety level getting higher and higher. We had a little "Spring Cleaning" party this afternoon and now they're good as new!

  1. I didn't know there was a pet pen like this. When we had our two guinea pigs my husband hinged four boards together so they could be opened into a square, or flattened and slid under our counter. The room I'm in now is too small to have GPs any longer :( Nice to find you. Kathleen

  2. Love the pet pen too! Where did you find it? I had a guinea pig when my son was little....she was kind of messy. How often do you have to change the litter in her cage? I would love a class pet but i'm not sure I want to deal with the daily mess.....can you convince me?? LOL

    1. Oh my goodness... they're SO easy to care for in the classroom! The kids to most of the work, and I only change her bedding every other week. I got the cage on amazon... Just search guinea pig pen, and it's the first one that comes up!
